CDH clinic update and pictures

Marco had his CDH clinic visit yesterday and although he cried the entire time (poor baby!) all went VERY well. His chest xray was great. His surgeon said it was a "beautiful chest xray"!! Pulmonary wise all is going very well and we are cleared to travel to visit family in Salt Lake. Nutrition wise he is doing better than he has... he is gaining on average 8 grams a day which is great as most 2 yr. olds gain 6 grams a day!! So that is awesome for Marco!!! :) He gained weight well and grew in length as well! His weight is still on Marco's curve but they said Marco will gain at his pace and as long as he keeps gaining, he will get there! Which was great to hear. It is very tough sometimes daily but we know it is all in Marco's time and as with everything he has accomplished so far he will do this as well and will do it in flying colors. He loves to eat and is eating a lot of variety of fruits, veggies, and meats, he loves anything dairy. We will start to mix his Boost Milk with whole milk so it isn't so thick. The developmental pediatrician was very happy with his progress and development! Overall it was a very nice visit and we only need to return in a year unless we need to. This was nerve wreaking but also great news!! We are very proud of our little man.
He is loving the nicer weather and loves being outside. He wakes up and runs to the door trying to open it! He is repeating everything we say and is learning new words every day. He is usually talking in 2-3 word sentences, asks questions, and labels everything! He knows so many colors, purple, pink, yellow, orange, red, blue, green, brown, and gold and labels them all!! He recognizes circle, square, and star and easily does his shape sorter now. He also has gotten better with puzzles. He has gotten stronger with crayons and will make circles, and up and down lines, dots. Thank godness for playdough and Theraputty, they are really helping with his hand strength!! Recently he started recognizing some letters. He will say M, A, C, and O, we need the R and we have his name :) He also counts to 5. He also recognizes eyes, ears, nose, hand, foot, head, hair, mouth, teeth, tongue, toes, belly. He is talking in a mixture of Portuguese and English, a few more words in English. The one I loved is when he said "bye bye purple carro". There is multilingual for ya!!
He is starting to go up the stairs "like a big boy" rather than crawling, but he prefers crawling, it is safer so that is ok by me now. He goes up and down fast enough for me. He is into climbing onto the safety gates, luckily he can't get far! He still loves his cars, bus, trucks, balls, anything "Boy" :)
He is a true joy every day and is the happiest little man who is always trying to make us smile.
Here is a video of new pictures and some videos of our nice weekend outdoors and some other pics I could resist!

So glad the visit went well. Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job. He's such an inspiration--to know how well he's eating, growing, talking, and getting around.

p.s. Carter wore that surfing monkey shirt today :)
